With the Jets victory over the Steelers, and the Rams victory over the 49ers yesterday, the Dolphins now own a 2 game lead for the first pick in the 2008 NFL draft held in April 2008.
This is good news for a team in obvious rebuilding mode and in desperate need for youthful play makers on a aging defense.
All the Dolphins need to do is lose 5 of their 6 next games to lock up first place in the NFL draft.
Should not be hard to do for them the way they are playing. Congratulations to the teams with 4 or more wins this year as they have been eliminated from winning the drafts first position for 2008. There is no way this Dolphins campaign finish out the season going 4-2
Current Race for Pick 1# in 08 draft with remaining games. Only six teams still alive.

The 2008 draft may prove to be the most important in Miami Dolphin history. A solid draft with rookies making immediate impact during the 2008 season could see the Dolphins return to respectability sooner rather than later. Cameron lays an egg on this next draft and we may see the Dolphins tailspin last longer than Cameron's tenure. Cameron does not win a game this year, its possible his time is up now.
If the Draft were based on NFL standings thru week 11, The Dolphins would grab 5 of the first 97 players off the board. These picks would be
#1 - Round 1
#33-Round 2
#54-Round 2-Via San Diego Chris Chambers trade
#65-Round 3
#97-Round 4
If the Dolphins draft well next year and succeed by grabbing 3-5 quality immediate starters, they could be well on their way to getting out of this quagmire of ugly football.
Dolphins have desperate need on defense for Defensive tackles, Ends, Linebackers, Cornerbacks, Strong safetys, and Full safetys. On offense they need
centers, guards, tackles, runningbacks, fullbacks, wideouts, tightends, and quarterbacks.
Just Kidding!
The offense as a whole is middle of the pack in the NFL. In my opinion the line has played its best in a decade. Jesse Chatman is a sound #2 RB, and it remains to be seen how injury prone RB Ronnie Brown bounces back from his torn ACL next year. ACLs usually take 2 years for a RB to bounce back, so look for Brown to be his best in the 2009 season.
Brown is injury plagued and has missed games every year in his professional career. When healthy, he is a top 5 NFL Runningback. Cameron is offensive minded and I am sure Arkansas'
RB Darren McFadden deserves a long look as a prospective round one pick.
This team needs defense badly, and LSUs DT Glenn Dorsey would be a good place to start.
The Dolphins 2008 draft will be exciting, and many things can happen that can cause it to be a very productive draft class. They can trade out of the #1 spot and pick up more picks(I vote for this option) Ricky Williams can finish the year strong and Dolphins can trade him to pick up a 4th or 5th rounder in 2008 if they are lucky.
Also do not be too suprised to see ZThomas retire and JTaylor be traded or retire as well.
Cameron has proven that he can be decent on draft day. Last years center Satele is having an incredible year, and say what you will about WR rookie Ted Ginn, but he is not a bust. He has 3 punt/kickoff returns for touchdowns(2 called back for penalties) and is on pace to have a much better than Carolinas WR Steve Smith in his rookie year.
If drafting defense is most critical for the upcomign draft, then perhaps we should throw a couple of million dollars at former coach Jimmy Johnson to come in and lead up the evaluation and draft process for next year.
